So when I went outside today, what did I see? Yummy trash on the ground. A gift, if you will. The smells were amazing.

I know I'm not suppose to touch it. But what is a bored labbie to do? I'm only a dog.

So I ate.

Chicken bones. Yum. Chicken skins. Yum. Other various types of human food. Yum.

Mom was NOT pleased. I kinda made a mess. I was in trouuuuuuble.

so you all know that i love my human mom. seriously she is the one human i can always count on.

until today. she lost her mind.

it was the first day in WEEKS of hellish winter that we had a nice day. she PROMISED a walk. whatever. she decided to spend the day leaving in her jeep and then cleaning stuff from the garage. she didn't know i was listening, but i overheard her talking to my human brother that it was "too windy" to walk.

the sun is out. it's like 58 degrees whatever that means. all i know there is no white stuff on the ground, so let's hit the road.

all of a sudden she pulls out the yellow hairbrush that feels amazing on my dry, flaky, itchy winter coat that is blowing out. so i politely stand there and let her brush me.

THEN she says i need a bath. won't lie, not a huge fan of our cramped up bathroom tub with the weird sliding doors. but i see her coming outside with the shampoo and a towel. okay, cool i love to play in the driveway with water.

in horror and to my shocking surprise, the water that came out of that long green snaky thingee feels like pure ice. not cold. no. ice, ice, baby. she's yelling at me and i'm jumping around feeling my heart beat out of my chest. just when i think this is going to end, she starts soaping me up.

is she kidding? at my first opportunity (and i have to say in almost five years i have never done this) i take off running from her. she calls me back and every fiber of me wants to obey....but she's still holding the icy green snake thing. i know what is coming.

so she gets me back and of course douses me with more cold torture. just when i think i cannot take anymore and may have to BITE the green snake, my human brother comes out holding a big blue pitcher.....of pure warm/hot water.

aaaahhhhhhhhhh. three more times of the blue pitcher and i am feeling great.

mom, lick you much, but can we wait till summer? or until the green snake thingee warms up? jeez.

ps. i do feel better, but i'm not telling her lest she wants to make this a weekly thing.

mom surprised me today! she said, "let's go for a ride!" i ran as fast as i could to get in the jeep.

we went downtown to meet some of her wedding professional friends who are photographers! we walked all over the place and i had to be good. i saw this little yapper yorkie, which i thought would have tasted pretty good, but mom said no.

we had lunch outside and i got to eat fries. i never get fries!!!

actually i'm proud of her, but seriously...what about me? what about my friends? grrrh.

anyway, i'm a BIG boy now....no longer a pup (but my dad still calls me pup-pup). i've been to the emergency room twice in my two years of existence. hey! i'm active! this summer has been fun because we go to a river camp almost every weekend. i swim, swim, swim....till my ears hurt. and then my mom has to put this stupid liquid in them.

mom does this crazy thing once a week. she likes to take everything off her bed and throw it on the floor. pretty weird considering i watch her everyday make the bed look pretty and she never, EVER invites ME to sleep on it with her.

i digress. so, once a week, she throws these wonderful pieces of material on the floor. they smell like my mom and dad. i just love them. so of course, i wallor in them.

once in awhile, my mom thinks its funny to throw the big sheets on TOP of me. i don't mind it but this one time, i couldn't get out of it. i fought and fought but it kept getting more tangled up!

well, here are some pics of the parade! as promised i gave $100 extra to the Humane Society. there were so many doggies there! i barked and growled with excitement in the car, but once i got out, i acted like a good puppy.

that parade was a long walk. i was exhausted by the end of the day. i got lots of treats and some toys and $50 to spend at the local pet store. i'm pushing for treats!!

first - thank you so much to everyone who voted. i really appreciate your support.

technically, i did not win. something stupid about confirmed votes vs unconfirmed votes. can't humans do anything right? mom was more sad that i didn't win, like i care? i still get/give love.

but we got a phone call today. apparently, (this gets bone juicy) the other doggie's owner who entered him in the contest (probably didn't ask him) was under the age of 18. i guess you can't do that because there are prizes and stuff. (i hope it's bones)

well they called her and told her that she couldn't win and then i would get to be GRAND MARSHALL and rule the universe. ahem, walk in the parade.

hi fellow doggies and humans. ranger, here....i've been on vacation. not on purpose. mom is so busy on the computer she doesn't let me have any time to get on it. she explained that the more time she is using the 'puter for work, the more dog bones she can afford to buy me. well, i haven't seen an increase in that area at all.

she hasn't been able to take pictures of me either. dad lost our camera. some stupid human stole it. mom was really mad. good news is, she just bought one. but it's still in the box (did i mention she is really busy)?

we have been visiting the river this summer. i went twice. one time there were a lot of loud noises. kids running around with fire setting off these incredibly loud bangs. they loved it. me? not so much. i hid in the trailer and refused to come out.

last weekend we went again. i swam and swam and swam. i went on my first boat ride. it was okay. we went to a beach which had a LOT of humans. there were naked human legs everywhere! apparently, humans take off a lot of clothes when they are in the sun. they also drink and EAT really well. i'm there to help them with that of course.

i met lots of dogs. other labbies like myself. course, i'm the best looking one. i also hurt my tail. apparently i strained it swimming too much and got what is called "cold tail". it was kinda limpy. mom was very, very worried about it. but it seems to be doing better. i overheard her saying that she was going to take me to the vet. whew! i lucked out.

well, i need to take a nap. bark at you dogs later!

i have had a rough week. first my mom and decided to get me tutored, um, neutered. i KNEW something was up. no breakfast and then we go to the vet's office FIRST thing! humph. i didn't want to go in.

i came home tired....kinda groggy. but it was not that big of deal, until the next couple of days. i don't mind to tell you but i was pretty obsessed with my thingees. especially at night! i licked and licked and licked. i wouldn't let mom touch them. she tired to put something on them and it stung and i YELPED and CLAWED!!! mom was worried about it, but dad wasn't.

well i guess i licked too much because things got worse. my private area was so irritated and red! so mom went out and bought me this contraption. what in the heck is wrong with her?

earth day, part 2

we walked everywhere downtown...i smelled so many things!!! there were these loud "cars" but they only had two wheels. i didn't like them too much.

mom tried to get me to go to the bathroom in the grass but i was too excited to listen. all of a sudden i had to GO right on the sidewalk. i was embarrassed but mom didn't get mad. she had some doggie plastic baggies and picked it right up.

i think you can tell i was hot. but mom brought me water and my doggie bowl. she loves me.

she went and put a doggie treat on his grave. i waited until she turned around and snatched it up. hey, i'm sure he'd do the same for me. i think we'd probably like each other. he would teach me how to hunt.

this is the guy who my doggie dad lives with. he was the first human that ever held me or kissed me. he came to visit us and i usually don't like human men right off the bat....but i must have remembered his smell because i barked and rolled around with him.

he is best friends with my human dad and i am so glad. he loved seeing me and brought pictures of one of my brothers with my doggie dad. he also told my mom when i was out of the room that one of my brothers was ran over by a car. i pretended not to hear. *sniff*

....yep! today i am one year old! it's been a great year and i have a wonderful family. i've learned so much and am going to "miss" being called a pup. my mom says i'll always be her baby though.

long time no bark!! i'm still here...growing strong. I'll be turning one year old here in about three weeks.

mom still hogs the computer. so i nibble on her feet sometimes, but she doesn't give in.

it's starting to warm up which means i get to hang outside more. which i love. i need more exercise!!

mom is taking me to rally! it's a stilly class that makes you sit, down, turn around and follow your human through a bunch of orange cones. you are suppose to bite them or tip them over. anyway, everyone fusses over me how great i am. duh! but, of course!

so this weekend my brother has a friend over to spend the night for two glorious nights. i lu-oove it when there are more than one smelly boy around.

anyway, my bro who always leaves treats down low, actually left a bag of doritios (glorious cheesy triangle treats) and, get this, small chocolately snickers on the floor. actually he had the nerve to set them in my very own box where i keep my doggie toys. i guess he was too lazy to get up and put them up properly.

and.....(drum roll please) i did not touch any of it. nope. not a single bite of anything. aaaaalll night.

my human bro got in trouble while i got praise and lots of love. even a doggie treat...hmmmm jerky! that's what i'm about.

boy have i not been a good blogger. mom is sooo busy with her stupid wedding planning business. she thinks her work is so important that she leaves all the time and is on her computer working. she won't let me get on it to say hi or nothin!!! grrrhhh.

on a side note....mom took me last weekend to get my good citizen's canine test or something. seems to me that humans should have to take one of those tests as well. anyway, i didn't chew on any dogs and sat when i was suppose to....whatever...and of course, passed. hello? sooo easy.

i missed going to doggie school...i got so excited when we got there that i had to pee in like 30 different places. mom says we're going to go do rally soon. whatever that is.

...my doggie friends...i am on a roll.

mom decided to leave me all alone for about four hours yesterday. maybe you don't know this or not, but i am rarely "alone". someone is always home most of the time.

and they left me with no yummy bones to eat. so i went back to the plants i used to chew on when i was a mere babe...and the shiny tin foil my mom used to cover the rocks (that are quite yummy) didn't taste too bad.

needless to say, mom really scolded me. she never hits, but i don't like that voice she uses and the way she points her finger. so i sulked a bit in the corner.

tee-hee....it was all show....wait till she leaves again!!! now i know why it is so much fun to be a bad doggie!!!

apparently, i have been in the dog house. my parents get mad at me in the middle of the night when i am grooming myself. how can i help it that i make a lot of noise licking myself? and, the carpet just plain tastes good...so i had to lick that too.

dad yelled at me in the middle of the night GO TO SLEEP. which woke my mom up and then both of them couldn't go back to sleep so they argued.

last night mom got in late.. i guess she was out with her friends (the nerve). anyway, mom ended up sleeping in my human's brother's room cause he was sleeping with our dad. so of course, i was went to sleep with her in his room.

my human brother is so awesome. he loves to eat and sucks at putting away food. he had this plastic bag of human cookies (don't worry no chocolate) and he left it low to the ground. so when it got really dark and i heard my mom breathing really heavy...i went to that bag and ATE just about all the cookies.

it was the last two cookies (of the full bag) that gave me away. i was licking and licking trying to get at them and it woke my mom up and she told me to stop.

i see things in my house.

my humans don't see it.....i think it's a ghost, but i'm not sure. i bark up at the ceiling and my hair rises up and i get kinda uncomfortable/scared.

sometimes at night i think i see things and go sleep on the side of my mom's bed, where i won't see anything weird...down our long hallway.

it's been a good week....just hangin with my humans - eating and playing. i miss going to class but my mom said we have to take a break and go back again later. she hasn't been walking me either...which sucks.

i can't believe how times flies! nine months old today!! *woof* *W00F* i already got my "big boy" bark.....and now i hike my leg to pee.

in fact, speaking of hiking my leg...i got into trouble yesterday. we went to my mom's friend's house and she has two fluffy male doggies who yap-yap-yap. they also pee in their house sometimes.

so when i went inside....and smelled where they have "been" - i promptly lifted my leg and marked it. hey! that's a doggie's business card. boy were the humans maaaad.

well i don't know what the fuss is about with christmas. this morning my family gathered around and gave each other a bunch of paper and then tore it up. they seemed happy but all i knew was i had to WAIT for my breakfast, thankyouverymuch.

mom read this local story of this cute boxer puppy was saved after being found dumped in the middle of the road and all of his feet bound up with shoe laces. some stupid, mean, creep-ola human did that to him. they named him lucky.

but now he is safe and the family wants to adopt him. and humans say that animals are mean.

well it's been cold and the humans don't like to stay outside long. they are so wimpy.

they thought it was going to be fine by just ignoring me but i wouldn't have it. i pestered and pestered my dad to play with me.

so he kept throwing my ball down the hall and like any good retriever, i just kept chasing it till i finally almost collapsed!

whew!

air could not get into my mouth fast enough!

so i finally just threw myself down, while they watched that TV thingy!!!

we are having some great weather here! nice and sunny. we went on a walk yesterday cause it was so nice....i like walks. we saw a big, black lab who doesn't like anyone to get on his lawn. i didn't go over..but i barked back at him...just to let him know that even though i'm young, i'm not a big baby.

my doggie brother doesn't have to walk on a leash with us and he runs by me just to show off. he's stupid as turbo would say. i fixed him good when we got back in our yard by tackling him. i'm a lot bigger than him now!

i knew something was weird today. mom was busy moving stuff around and has been in the kitchen a whole bunch.

all of a sudden all these people came into the house. there were a lot of girls, which i don't mind...cause i like girls.... and the best part...they kept on EATING. i found the smallest girl, she was the puppy of her family and real close to the ground. so i would come up and sniff her hand when she was holding something tasty.

i've never actually met a turkey. but i have to say...they taste reeeeaaal good. one of dad's friends made a turkey just for us dogs!!!! hmmmm hmmmmm

the key to a good nap is a being in a good position. my favorite position is half on my side and half on my back. i strategically place myself around something, preferably my mom's comfy chair. yes while your privates are hanging out there for all to see....it is, trust me, most comfortable.

Ranger Update

Hi everyone, Ranger's Mom here....

We had a rough go last night. Ranger was very lethargic and he also may have had a little fever with chills. We wrapped him in a blanket and that helped him to sleep. He didn't eat at all and was not drinking.

All of his blood work finally came back and everything is completly normal. He is a little bit better today, he ate some rice and a few bits of meat...something soft. I also gave him a spoonful of pumpkin to help loosen things coming OUT. I saw a lot of grass earlier. If he wasn't such a vacuum outside...we wouldn't have this problem.

I slept with him in the living room all night, which means I didn't get a lot of sleep. I just wanted to be sure he was going to be okay. He is such a sweet, smart dog and I hate to see him sick and not himself. I'm praying, PRAYING he doesn't have a blockage - because of not only him having to go through surgery but also the expense. I know you doggies don't understand that. Humans are stupid and charge money whenever they can.

We are waiting to see how things go by tomorrow afternoon, and if he isn't better I'm taking him in to the doctor. Please think about him.

...thank you all for the well-wishes. things seem to be okay...mom is just trying to figure out what happened to me. she keeps "checking" on me and i can hardly get any sleep! but i did get a whole bunch of new toys yesterday - so maybe being sick isn't that bad!

my human brother had another boy over last night. i love boys - they have a wonderful smell. they slept on the floor in front of that tv thingy, so i slept with them. i like to jump on their heads when they aren't looking..hehe..and nibble a bit. it was a fun and i hope more come over soon.

seizure?

well i had a little scare yesterday. i woke up from my nap and when i got up to walk ... i couldn't walk straight. i tilted to the right and then tilted to the left....mom saw me right away and freaked out. no matter how i tried...i couldn't walk normal. i wanted to be happy but i kept losing my balance.

before i knew it i was swept into the car and at the vet's office (someone guy i've never met before). i started to feel a bit better but still wasn't quite myself. that guy picked me up and put me on this HIGH stainless steel table. i was so scared....i was shaking badly. but my mom was there soothing me. then he had the nerve to shave a portion of hair off my leg and stuck me with needles. even more humilating...he stuck something up my butt. but i endured.....

i overheard mom talking to dad that they are afraid i had a seizure because everything else looked okay. what is a seizure? i don' even know what happened!!!!

this is athena...i met her the first day of puppy class and we are in our third doggie class together. everytime i see her i get excited and kiss her. i wish our parents would let us get together and run and play. she has a lake where she lives!

the sky is falling today! there are all these men outside and trucks and noisy big machines....and they are all over our roof! mom said everything was fine - we're just getting a new roof so it doesn't rain inside. but i barked and BARKED at them just to be sure. i wouldn't mind a few raindrops inside the house every now and then, i love water!

they seem nice, but i think i'm just going to hang out underneath my mom's desk. just a minute ago, this new truck pulled up and 5 big boys jumped out and got on the roof to help them. i've lost count of how many strangers we have on our property!! probably about 15 or so....

well now i know what all the fuss was about. mom took me and my human bro to her friend's house. they don't have a doggie but they have wonderful female human children. i was so good...and then she put on my costume, which i promptly tried to bite off.

we then proceeded to walk all over the place in the dark. we went to people's houses and i walked past dogs that were really mean sounding (but behind fences). i just ignored them.

then we went back to the friend's house and i ate a hot dog for dinner and spent time investigating their backyard. the kids ate lots of yummy treats and roasted marshmellows. those things are good!!!

i was tired when i came home, but had the BEST time. hope yours was good too!!
